What is Wave Picking
What is Wave Picking
Waves are an optional workflow in Warehouse Manager. You can refer to the original scoping of a project to determine if you will be utilizing this process in their business.
What is a Wave?
- A wave is a grouping or batch of orders released for picking based on common parameters.
- Waves allow you to manage all your orders and delegate them to pickers all from the admin console.
- Wave Picking allows you to group orders together to pick simultaneously.
How can wave picking assist your daily operations in a warehouse?
- Assign large numbers of orders to pickers
- Paperless option of assigning orders
- Use your custom order views to generate waves
- Save time and steps in the warehouse
Once orders are placed on a wave, the Warehouse Manager will route the picker through the warehouse based on the Pick Path that is set up in the system (alphanumeric by default). For more information, please see our help center article on Pick Path.
The wave will take the picker to each bin to pick the number of parts required for all orders on the wave. The Warehouse Manager can also follow a pick-to-tote method as well, which allows you to not only pick items in bulk but build individual orders on a cart as they walk through the warehouse.
