Enabling Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
Two-factor authentication (2FA) is an identity and access management security method that requires two forms of identification to access resources and data.Â
Extensiv allows enablement of 2FA at an organizational level and for any user that needs to use 2FA.Â
Enabling 2FA in an org
- Log in to Extensiv.
- Go to Company.Â
- Click Edit.Â
- Turn on Two-Factor Authentication in the Security section.Â
- Select Enable 2FA.Â
Remember to update your individual users' Profile Settings if you want them to log in with a verification code. - Click Save.Â
Enabling 2FA at the organizational level does not automatically apply it to all user accounts within the organization. You still need to modify their profile settings on the User Accounts page.
Â
Enabling 2FA at a user level
Once you have enabled 2FA at an org level, you can now enable 2FA at a user level.Â
- Go to Users.
- Select the user you want to log in through 2FA. This will open the user settings at the right side of the page.
Notice that the 'Two-Factor Authentication required?' field is tagged as 'No.' This setting is visible per user because 2FA is enabled at the organizational level. If 2FA is not enabled at the organizational level, the 2FA setting will not be visible.
 - Click Edit.
- Turn on the Two-Factor Authentication Required.
- Click Enable 2FA.Â
Once the 2FA is enabled, users will be asked to enter a verification code when logging in to Extensiv.Users with 2FA enabled will have to set up their authenticator the next time they log in to Extensiv.Â
If you are enabling 2FA for many users, you can select 'Don’t show again' to avoid being prompted by the same message on Step 5. - Click Save.Â
Notice that the 2FA required field is now tagged as Yes at a user level.
