Understanding User Roles in Extensiv Hub
In this article, we will introduce and outline what actions users can take within Hub for each of the default roles.
Hub roles
This table defines Hub's default user roles.
Roles |
Description |
System Admin | Can view and edit anything in Hub such as organization details, users, and roles. |
Manager | View only permission but has the ability to create a new user account in Hub |
View Only | View only permission with no ability to make changes to the organization details, user accounts and roles. |
Customer User | No additional Hub permissions. They can only launch the application through Extensiv Hub. |
To know the exact permissions included in each role, navigate to Roles and click View Matrix. Here, you can compare the permissions for all user roles.
The permissions assigned to default roles cannot be modified by a system admin user. However, you can create a new user role in Hub if any of the default roles do not fit your organization's needs. To learn more about how to create user roles in Hub, see our article on Creating User Roles in Hub.
What happened to the roles used for each Extensiv legacy application?
When migrating customers from our legacy products, the Extensiv team identified and mapped the legacy application role to the corresponding Hub default role. Note that this mapping does not affect the permissions a user have to the legacy applications.
See below for additional details regarding each legacy application.

I want to change my role in Hub
If you need to elevate your access in Hub, please contact your system admin to modify your Hub user role. However, if you're the only administrator in your organization and your assigned user role is not a system admin, please contact Extensiv Support.
Are my Hub role and application role in sync?
No. Hub user roles do not define the level of access of a user for each integrated application such as 3PL Warehouse Manager, and Order Manager. Application permissions are managed separately. To learn more about application permissions, see our article on User Management Overview.
